36-38 Barber Avenue Apartments
“An exciting project from Morson Group.”
This particular site presented some unique challenges and opportunities. Directly to the West is a Residential Flat Building that has balconies orientated towards our site with little consideration for visual privacy. To combat this and to take advantage of the sweeping views across Penrith and towards the Blue Mountains, we designed a North-South typical arrangement. Any window or balcony that risked overlooking from the neighbouring building was shielded with strategic privacy louvres. A considerable amount of exploration was done to ensure sunlight was maximised and privacy was achieved.
The construction was an earthy collection of face brickwork, powder coated aluminium extrusions and paint colours that aim to be timeless and robust, whilst drawing on the inspiration of the rocky, mountainous outlook. To minimise the visual and shadowing impact to neighbouring properties, the building form mimics the 'stepping-down' nature of the site.
